Happy New Year,
The weather outside is frightful!
Those words seem to have new meaning recently, but luckily we still
have until January 3, 2005 before Millikan High School reconvenes.
I hope that you are all warm, safe and dry as you await the New Year.
I wanted to inform you that
six of our teachers have been nominated for the Disney Hands Teacher Award.
These nominated teachers names were presented to Disney by parents,
teachers or even a colleague. The teaching staff at Millikan High does
a superior job of teaching and inspiring our students, and it is nice to be
recognized for this work. The
nominated teachers are Special Education Teacher - Ms. Barbara Conrad, Social
Studies Teacher - Mr. Nader Twal, English/Literacy Teacher - Ms. Ritambra
Jain, Art Teacher - Ms. Sandy Lucas, Foreign Language Teacher - Ms. Antje
Peterie and finally English Teacher - Mr. Tom Lind.
Congratulations to 11th
grader Lynsey Dennison who won the Chief for the Day contest hosted by Chief
Tony Batts of the Long Beach Police Department. Lynsey will shadow Chief Batts and experience some of the
training that Long Beach Police Officers undergo during the Academy
traning. LynseyÕs big day will be
January 10th.
Best wishes,
Jeff
"One looks back with
appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched
our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but
warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the
child."
