January 31, 2003
Dear Parents:
As you may know, Millikan
High School will be giving incoming ninth graders and their parents a choice of
higher standards this fall, not only in dress but also in behavior and
achievement. Our new school
uniforms for freshmen will be phased in one year at a time. They are expected to contribute significantly
to student performance, school climate and parent satisfaction. The Board of Education on January 21
unanimously approved the new uniform requirement for Millikan, a school of
choice.
The response has been
positive. Although we can enroll
up to 980 ninth graders this fall, we expect to have a waiting list for
admission. Enrollment is by parent
application. If you wish to apply,
please sign the enclosed form and return it to your student’s middle
school counselor. Admission is
offered to students throughout the district with priority being given to those
who live in the current Millikan attendance area.
If a parent who lives in the
current Millikan attendance area does not choose Millikan, transportation will
be provided to another school. Any
opening that results will immediately be filled by another applicant on the
waiting list.
Thank you for considering
Millikan High School as one of your school choices. Best wishes for success in the year ahead.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeffrey Cornejo
Co-Principal
