Our Program

The COMPASS program is designed to help college bound students find direction in their lives as scholars, creative individuals, and compassionate members of society.

COMPASS students can expect to connect learning

with current events and real world situations.

By bringing together core curriculum, social sciences, and the Arts,

the COMPASS program helps students to graduate as well-rounded individuals

by fostering growth in the following areas:

1. Creative Expression:
Connect visual and performance art-based standards/framework that will help to foster critical thinking and develop skills relevant to state core standards in order to produce products that reflect the arts in the curriculum.

2. World View (Social and Historical Awareness):
Develop ability to make connections and think critically about the world, our society, and personal experiences, paying special attention to the social sciences and related to the core and arts state standards.

3. Enriched Research Experience:
Develop skills needed to conduct meaningful investigations of scientific, historical, and sociological issues as relevant to core and arts standards.

4. Creative Service Learning and Community Partnerships:
Create opportunities to participate in a real world service learning experiment for an authentic audience and build partnerships which will allow students to collaborate with members of the community and local organizations.
