Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
ASVAB Coordinator:  Viseth Vann E-mail:  vvann@lbschools.net x4118

What is the ASVAB?

The ASVAB is multi-aptitude test battery.  It consists of eight short individual tests covering General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension.  Not only do students receive scores on each of these individual tests, they also receive career exploration scores.  Those career exploration scores will help students to make career decisions by:

  • Identifying their interests, skills, and work-related values

  • Matching their interests, skills, and work-related values

  • Learning where and how to get information on different careers

Taking the ASVAB does not obligate you to the military in anyway.

The ASVAB assesses academic ability and predicts success in a wide variety of occupations. 11th and 12th graders who want to take the ASVAB can sign up starting in early November in the Career Center or Room  117.  The ASVAB testing is scheduled on Thursday, December ___, 2009 in the Library at 8:00 a.m.
