Job Training Classes for High School Students

The Long Beach School for Adults is a great place to get started if you are seeking to develop new job skills, or are looking to further develop/strengthen the current workplace skills that you already have. Some of the courses are short-term (nine to eighteen weeks in length), and some of the courses are longer term (up to two semesters long). See specific course descriptions and course pages for details.

Make sure to speak with your School Counselor to see which courses match your current interests and will work with your class schedule.

How to Get Started:

Contact your high school counselor.

High school students must be at least 16 years old or in the 11th grade to enroll. 10th grade students can enroll if the class is part of an academy pathway at your home school site.

Priority and Drop Policies:

1.       High school students have priority in Job Training class enrollment and registration.

2.       Any student who does not qualify to be placed out at the time of internship (if an internship or site placement is a part of the course) or is dismissed from the placement site because of poor attendance/conduct may be dropped from the class.

Other Policies

1.       Students must furnish their own transportation to the selected class and/or other training facilities.

2.       No high school credit can be earned if the student attends less than one semester, unless the class is specified as a quarter-long class.

3.       Class times and locations are subject to change.
