There are many ways in which high school students, and their family members, can obtain information about possible career opportunities and educational pathways available to them after high school:

Career development concepts and curriculum-related career pathway information is integrated into each high school course outline, curriculum-wide.

.
 

High school counseling staff present instructional and information workshops to students in both the 9th and 11th grades (copies of those workshops, along with supporting documents and materials are available for download below).

.
 

A full service campus Career Center, staffed by a full-time Career Center Supervisor, at each of the comprehensive high school campuses, is available to both students and parents. Career Development services through these career centers include interest/skill assessments, college/university campus tours, college applications, regularly scheduled college admissions representatives, military service opportunities, apprenticeship programs, financial aid workshops, parent workshops, part-time job assistance, and much more.

The school district also provides, to students and parents (free of charge), an award-winning and nationally acclaimed online career planning/career information resource. Students and parents are encouraged to use this resources in the exploration of and planning for their individual post-high school career and educational pursuits.

Choices Explorer®  is an engaging career exploration system excites students about their future with a lively, interactive magazine-style format. Access to over 900 career profiles, 330 post-secondary programs, 200 career videos and much, much more.

Choices Planner® is an online career information system that helps students compare, connect and choose from a vast network of work and education options, effortlessly building powerful plans using the Career Plan Builder. Students can take validated personalized assessments that will help them identify skills and increase self-awareness, helping them make informed decisions. Work through the Interest Profiler, Work Importance Profiler, and Assess Yourself assessment based on the Holland Codes for self-exploration. Comprehensive information on 900 occupations includes state specific wages, worker attributes, job characteristics, and much more. There are 300 career videos that give users a snap shot of the featured occupation. Job openings on Americas Job Bank are easily accessible within each occupation’s profile.

Choices Explorer/Planner

District’s free (district-supported) online career education and information resource. Compare colleges, browse through financial aid and scholarship opportunities, use interests, skills, and values assessments to match careers to personal interests and abilities. School User Name and Password info is available from your school site's Career Center or counselor.
