Program Assistance for Language Minority Students (PALMS)

The Program Assistance for Language Minority Students (PALMS) Office provides services for English Language Learner (ELL) Students. ELL's are identified as students whose primary language is not English. The PALMS Office offers ELL's, parents, and teachers services designed to help increase the ELL students' English language and academic abilities in Kindergarten through grade 12. The following services are offered:

• Proposition 227 Implementation 
• Instructional programs to identified ELL students 
• Southeast Asian Learners project (SEAL) 
• Migrant Education Program 
• Legal and Compliance Issues
• Coordination of Community Based English Tutoring Program (CBET)
• Emergency Immigrant Education 
• Parent Leadership Training
• Coordination of the district English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) Meetings 
• Parents in Print (Literacy Program) 
• Translation and Interpretation Services 
• Technical Assistance 
• B/CLAD & SB 1969 Authorization - (Teacher Credentialing) 
• Title VII Comprehensive Grants 
• ELL Teacher Appreciation
