Credential Renewal and Professional Growth

As the holder of a California Single Subject or Multiple Subject Professional Clear Credential, you are required by the Commission of Teacher Credentialing to complete 150 hours of professional growth activities during each five-year renewal cycle. Correct completion of this requirement is a critical component of your credential renewal process. The key to the renewal process is working with a professional growth advisor. The advisor helps you set goals, discusses appropriate activities to meet your goals, and verifies that you have completed your professional growth activities. Each school secretary will have a Professional Growth Advisor list.

To assist you in completing your responsibility, two informational meetings regarding the professional growth requirement have been scheduled for October 25, 2006 and March 21, 2007. You are invited to attend one of the optional meetings for information about professional growth hours, district procedures, and Professional Growth Advisors. The meetings are co-sponsored by Human Resource Services and the Teachers’ Association of Long Beach.

You can now renew your credential online with the use of a Visa or Master Card. To renew your credential online connect to the Web at www.ctc.ca.gov. External Site Click on "California Teacher Credential Look-up and Renewal". Click on "Renewal Credentials". Once you renew your credential online, contact Human Resource Services to forward your confirmation number. If your credential has already expired, do not renew online. Contact Human Resource Services immediately.
