Boys' Football All-City Champions! Congratulations to the Hughes Boys' Football team for winning the Division 1 All-City Championship! After losing a heartbreaking game in last year's All-City Championship (in double overtime) Hughes came back with determinition and solid play from everyone on the team. Boys' Basketball All-City Champions! The Hughes basketball team beat the Hamilton Wolverines on Saturday by the score of 74-65. The win gives Hughes its third straight All-City Championship for the boys' sports teams. The Owls followed the paths of the football team and track and field team to earn the honor. In the Division I match up, Hamilton & Hughes battled to a 37-35 halftime score and were within a couple of baskets of each other late in the game until Hughes put it away for keeps! Great accomplishment boys! |
Boys' Track All-City Champs!! Congratulations to the boys' track and field team who, on Saturday, compiled the most points to win All-City honers. What a fantastic season it has been and what a great championship meet it turned out to be. Excellent job Boys! |
Boys' Soccer Boys, if you haven't already done so, be sure to turn in your consent and release from liability form to Mr. Gollner so he can get your photos up and running on this site! The Boys' Soccer team played well enough to win all year, but unfortunately, were unable to do so. Congratulations to all of the boys' for making the team, playing well and showing excellent sportsmanship throughout! |
Girls' Volleyball What a great year the girls had this year. After nearly winning the Northern League, the Hughes girls went on to meet Rogers in the quarter-finals of the All-City Playoffs. Hughes came away victorious winning in three straight games (25-20, 25-25, 25-13). Needing only one more win to advance to the All-City Championship, Hughes battled Stanford and came up just short. Girls' Basketball Soooooo Close!! After beating DeMille in the semi finals at Cabrillo, it was on to Milliken High School to face the very tough Bancroft Bruins. Hughes got off to an early lead that they didn't give up until the last few seconds of the game. The Lady Owls came close but were barely defeated in the All-City Championship by the score of 57 to 55. It was a great year of basketball girls! Everyone at Hughes is very proud of you!! Girls' Track All-City Champions!! The Hughes Owls girls' Track and Field team totally dominated the rest of the league on their way to winning their second straight championship at Poly High School. The Lady Owls started out strong and never looked back as they beat second place Stanford by 80 points! The Hughes girls have now been champs in 8 of the last 10 years!
