Schools Win State Performance Awards

A majority of Long Beach Unified School District schools have won a total of $1.26 million in the Governor's Performance Awards for meeting and exceeding their Academic Performance growth targets. The awards amount to $36.88 per student test taker at each winning school. To qualify for the Governor's Performance Award, schools must meet or exceed their five percent growth target on the state's Academic Performance Index (API), or increase their API score by five points, whichever is greater. All student subgroups must also meet or exceed 80 percent of the school target, or have an API score increase of four points, whichever is greater.
