An Ounce of Prevention on School Threats (From Superintendent Steinhauser)

By Christopher J. Steinhauser
Superintendent of Schools

Thank you, everyone, for a great start to the second semester, and for all of the inspiring work going on in our schools.  We deeply appreciate the hard work of our staff, students and their families.  We want to reiterate that the Long Beach Unified School District does not tolerate threats against others, whether in person or via social media.  Students who make such threats, even as a joke, can face arrest, prosecution and expulsion from school.

We take all threats seriously, as does local law enforcement.  We strongly encourage parents to monitor their children’s activity on social media, and we thank everyone for helping us to maintain safe, nurturing schools where everyone can focus on teaching and learning.
