Seven of Jordan High School’s Class of 2001 earned International Baccalaureate diplomas, a rigorous, internationally recognized college preparatory program. All seven are now attending University of California schools.
Receiving the IB diplomas are Chan Mang, Erika Martin, Ana Nunez, Marcella Ortiz, Cuong Phan, Olga Raygoza and Celeste Velasquez. Ana Nunez is attending UC Irvine this fall. The others are attending UCLA.
The extremely rigorous IB diploma program consists of very demanding course work in six areas in the junior and senior years, requires students to write a 4,000-word essay and perform substantial community service. The internationally recognized diploma is issued from Geneva, Switzerland.
