Recent Grad Wins Top Scouting Award

Stacey Kirk, a recent California Academy of Mathematics and Science graduate and daughter of Stanley Kirk, teacher at Barton Elementary School, won the Girl Scouts of America's highest honor, the Gold Award Woman of Distinction. Only 11 young women throughout the country won the award this year. She and the other winners toured Washington, D.C., met members of Congress, visited the White House and spent time with mentors from government, medicine and industry.
