CAMS, Sato Compete in Vehicle Challenge

Two teams from the Long Beach Unified School District participated in the regional Remotely Operated Vehicle competition at Long Beach City College this month, with one of the teams advancing to international competition.

California Academy of Mathematics and Science students and Sato Academy of Mathematics and Science students participated, with CAMS teacher Sandy James and Sato teacher Tamara Araya working together to help the two teams learn from one another.

“It was a really nice experience for all of us,” James said.

While CAMS has participated in this competition for years, Sato was new to the event.  CAMS eked past repeated champs Palos Verdes High School to win the regional event and earn a spot in the international event in Seattle on June 21 to 23.
