In a new video produced by Khan Academy, which provides online tutorials and other materials to help boost student achievement, a local teacher offers a glimpse of how these tools are being used successfully in class.
“My students love it. They absolutely love Khan,” said Brooke Hogan, seventh grade teacher at Robinson Academy in Long Beach. “Just in taking practice tests, their math scores have jumped so much.”
The Long Beach Unified School District’s partnership with Khan Academy also was the subject of a recent PBS television segment. As part of a pilot project, Khan (khanacademy.org) provides professional development for teachers, helping them to integrate online lessons into their classrooms. Khan supplies its online content at no cost.
