Rogers Middle School's exemplary parent involvement efforts are featured in February's issue of "Middle Ground," published by the National Middle School Association.
The extensive article, "It's All in the Family," says Rogers parents are actively engaged in reforms tied to academic standards. The school sends home daily agenda planners with assignment scoring guides, along with a general scoring guide detailing the qualities of good writing.
"The whole thing is communication," Principal Linda Moore stressed in the magazine. The article shows how teachers and administrators at Rogers have spent a great deal of time in the past few years understanding the goals and applications of the school district's new academic standards, then meeting with parents to explain them.
