Black History Month

Employees at the Long Beach Unified School District’s Administration Building are celebrating Black History Month with displays in the building lobby and at elevator stops, and they have scheduled a Black History Celebration for noon to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 in the Community Room.  RSVP to Diane Nealy-Ryals at 997-8258.

A separate event titled “Importance of Education” is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at the Long Beach City College Liberal Arts Campus, Building P, Room 110.  Tickets are $15 and available at the door.  The event will feature trailblazing African American women from the local community.  The women were featured as part of a recent “Breaking Through, Lighting the Way” exhibit at Long Beach’s Main Library.
