Gregory Stephen Fisher, teacher at CAMS, was recently named a regional semi-finalist in the 2000 NASDAQ National Teaching Awards. He is among 20 semi-finalists nationwide receiving $1,000 for the honor.
The award recognizes teachers for their originality, creativity and effectiveness in furthering students' awareness of the financial markets, capital formation, principles of investing, personal finance, entrepreneurship and the operation of market economies.
In his fourth year at CAMS, Fisher teaches psychology, government, economics, is the yearbook adviser and supervises the school's Peer Assistance program. During his economics classes, each student develops a product and devises a business plan that is critiqued by guest financial professionals. Several of his students' plans may have real potential in the business world.
