National Honors for McBride Radio Team

A McBride High School Amateur Radio Emergency Communications team recently took first place in a national radio competition for the state of California and placed third for the nation. Team members are Isabel Guzman, Joseph Searing, Brandon Cramer, Antoinange Monaus, Wyatt Law and Corbin Moore. The students are among 16 who participate in the AREC club. Co-advisors are Devon Day and John Jacobson.

In just one year, team member Isabel Guzman passed her technician and general tests.  She is legally approved to work most amateur voice frequencies.

Radio teams from McBride and Wilson Classical High School will join more than 1,000 teams in Canada and the United States on June 27 to 28 for a 24-hour competition. The Field Day will take place locally at Recreation Park in Long Beach.
