Student achievement is rising, according to the state's latest Academic Performance Index data. Most schools in the Long Beach Unified School District met their schoolwide growth targets. More than half of schools showed enough growth to be eligible for monetary rewards from the state.
The upward trend confirms earlier estimates by the school district, based on students' performance on the state Stanford 9 exam.
In the coming months, the state will finalize details of reward money distribution.
