Teacher Librarian of Year Named

The Long Beach School Librarians Association recently awarded its Teacher Librarian of the Year Award to Becky Robbins at Stephens Middle School.

“This is a wonderful honor," Robbins said. "I love what I do. I love going to school every day. It's a great staff to work with, very supportive administrators, and I just couldn't ask for a better position."

Robbins’ colleagues said she is passionate about providing students with outstanding library instruction and maximum access to the school library.

During non-instructional time, Robbins helps students select appropriate library material and offers assistance with homework. She is devoted to supporting her students’ extracurricular activities, too, sponsoring a book club and walking club. She organizes career days and three book fairs each year.

Robbins serves as the School Site Council chair, coordinates the social committee and volunteers at Education Celebration events. She is also a past recipient of the Teachers Association of Long Beach Golden Apple Award.
