A: Perhaps a letter from a current customer or supplier


Q: I was a stay-at-home parent. Who do I use as a reference?
A: Volunteer work or individual that has known you for awhile or last supervisor, if possible.


Q: What is a cover letter?
A: This is a letter that introduces yourself and your goal.


Q: To whom should I address my cover letter?
A: Human Resource Services or To whom it may concern.


Q: I did not receive a copy of my Student Teaching evaluations from Master Teacher.
A: Discuss the need for an evaluation with your university. If not able to provide, ask your master teacher for a letter of recommendation.


Q: I was in school in 2002. Do I need to put that down?
A: No, work history only for past 10 years. If in school during this time, please indicate in all periods of employment section of the e-application.


Q: Can I speak with the person in charge of hiring?
A: Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to answer individual inquiries.


Q: What is my status?
A: You may check your status at anytime by visiting our website.


Q: Why is my status incomplete?
A: If you have submitted your document packet, they are reviewed on a continuous basis. If you have not submitted your document packet, please do so, at your earliest convenience.


Q: What’s my next step?
A: Next steps depend on your status. You may check your status at anytime.


Q: When can I interview?
A: You will be contacted for an interview as applications are reviewed and vacancies occur.

A: We do not provide specific information on openings and locations. Applicants who are recommended for candidate status are referred to schools for site interviews.

Q: Why did I receive a regret letter when I am highly qualified?

Q: What do I do if a teacher (or principal) is requesting me at their site?
A: Please note that Principals and school staff are not authorized to offer employment. Only HRS offers employment. Applicants who are recommended for candidate status are referred to schools for site interviews.


Q: Can I get a LOR from someone besides my supervisor? I do not want them to know that I am seeking employment elsewhere.
A: LBUSD requires one letter of reference which must be from your current supervisor listed on your application. (student teachers should get a letter from master teacher). Please note as part of the e-application, you are required to provide an electronic signature stating that you give permission to previous employers to release information. Please review the application process.


Q: Is there any way that you could avoid contacting my current employer?
A: Please note as part of the e-application, you are required to provide an electronic signature giving permission to previous employers to release information.


Q: Why is it taking so long for my file to be reviewed?
A: Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis. We appreciate your patience.


Q: The name of my University is not listed on the drop down menu, and it will not allow me to move to the next section, what do I do?
A: Please select “Not Listed Enter Below” and type in the name of your college in the text field provided.


Q: I just updated my application, and I checked the status and it now reads “No Record Found”, why does it say that, was my application lost?
A: Each time your application is submitted the system resets your application which must then be re-reviewed before a status is assigned.


Q: Can I get a copy of a document sent in my document packet?
A: Materials received as part of the document packet cannot be returned or copied.


Q: My information is gone. I saved it.
A: Unsubmitted online application data expires after 48 hours.


Q: My preference is not listed.
A: Only subjects we are currently accepting applications for are available in the list of preferences.


Q: Can I stay on the list for next year?
A: Our staffing season is from September through August. If you are not a candidate, you may reapply after September 1 of the current school year for the following school year.


Q: How long will you keep my application and documents?
A: Complete applicants will stay current for one school year.
