Supplemental Educational Services (SES)
Supplemental Educational Services are tutoring services that LBUSD pays for, as required by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act/No Child Left Behind Law. Eligible students must be attending a Program Improvement school in years 2-5 and be receiving free or reduced priced lunch.
In August 2013, LBUSD was granted a waiver by the U.S. Department of Education. The waiver eliminates some key provisions of the ESEA/NCLB Law, including the provision that requires LBUSD to implement some Program Improvement activities, such as the Program Improvement Supplemental Educational Services option.
